Van has a rich cultural heritage and its food is a big part of that culture. Cultural heritage can provide an automatic sense of unity and belonging within a group and allows us to better understand previous generations and the history of where we come from. Without transmission of our traditions to new generations connection between young generation and old generation is quite impossible. So our youngsters in VAGEAD mention that they want to know what their mother and grandmothers have cooked. And they wanted to know about what European peers have in their culture as a food. They wanted to build a bridge between them and Europe via Food. This project will address the lack of acceptance and open-mindedness towards different nationalities and cultures in our local communities as well. For young people who are from different countries the exploration of their own culture and other cultures through preparing, sharing and learning about food will be an exciting and very revealing journey that will help them to understand their own culture better and will help them connect to, and learn about other different cultures. This will help creating the intercultural dialogue between different young people from different nationalities.
