“Renew the Energy, Save the Future!” is an Erasmus+ project designed to strengthen green and digital competences within vocational education and training. The project responds to the urgent need for a skilled workforce capable of supporting the energy transition by equipping teachers, learners, and SMEs with practical knowledge in renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, and smart energy management.
The initiative brings together educational institutions and organisations from Spain, the Netherlands, and Türkiye to form an international cooperation network focused on sustainability, innovation, and applied learning. Through this collaboration, the project connects technical training with digitalisation, ensuring that participants can not only understand renewable energy systems but also use digital tools to measure, analyse, and optimise energy consumption.
A central outcome of the project is the development of the Renewable Communities Toolkit. This toolkit will provide practical guides, training activities, real-life examples, digital instruments, and easy-to-apply methodologies that support VET centres and SMEs in improving their energy efficiency and moving toward more sustainable operational models. The toolkit is designed to be accessible, practice-oriented, and adaptable to different educational and organisational contexts.
The project includes several key activities aimed at building capacity and ensuring impact. International training in the Netherlands will focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and digital tools for smart energy management. Additional training and pilot implementation will take place in Spain, where VET teachers and students will test and validate the toolkit in real educational settings. A national workshop in Türkiye will support the involvement of young people, educators, and organisations, with a particular focus on the creation of local energy communities. Regular international coordination meetings will ensure smooth collaboration among partners, while evaluation and dissemination activities will maximise the project’s reach and long-term sustainability.
By combining technical training, digital skills development, and community-based approaches, “Renew the Energy, Save the Future!” contributes to the green transition by empowering VET institutions and SMEs to become active actors in sustainable energy practices.
